Digital Business Subject Matter Expert

Job purpose: 


The Digital Business Subject Matter Expert is the voice of the local market into the One Digital teams. The role provides invaluable context and ”on the ground” input into the product development process to ensure the products meet the needs of customers in a given country market, including business and commercial performance goals. The Market SME works closely with the One Digital teams to ensure local market priorities are clearly understood and articulated and provide input to the head of ecommerce in terms of prioritization for the market. They divide their time across multiple Squads and lead and coordinate timely and effective user acceptance testing (UAT) + logging of any relevant bugs by market peers.



Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Responsible for ensuring the web product meets the needs of a given market including user needs, business priorities and commercial performance.
  • Work closely with the One Digital team to ensure local market priorities and users’ needs are clearly articulated and understood and vice-versa.
  • Lead and manage local market User Acceptance Testing to ensure that the product delivered achieves agreed quality goals and logs any relevant bugs.
  • Provide constructive input to the head of ecommerce into the prioritisation and development of high quality features that deliver demonstrable customer and business value.
  • Support Product research, discovery and development activities where needed and ensure a mutual understanding of goals and how success will be measured.
  • Work closely with Market peers to align priorities and identify and manage dependencies and priorities with other Markets and business areas.
  • Represent the local customer and provide feedback to the Squad on performance of the product in the market and against targets.
  • Ambassador for Agile best practices in the local market, helping to identify and resolve issues or conflicts and enable One Digital and Market collaboration.


Skills, know-how and experience:

  • Understand customer, commercial and business value of features
  • Aware of digital trends, technology and user expectations in the local market
  • Knowledge of agile Scrum methodology and practices is a plus
  • Able assist Product and UX in understanding market needs
  • Pragmatic and able to balance local market demands with greater good
  • Demonstrable ability to take ownership and make effective decisions
  • Excellent attention to detail and drive to resolve issues
  • Experience of applying data and insight to inform decision-making
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible
  • Good stakeholder management skills
