Group Financial Reporting Accountant

 

Job purpose:  Support the Financial Reporting team in delivering the monthly accounts providing technical accounting support to the finance community

 

Key accountabilities:

  • Liaise with segments to ensure reporting to Group is both timely and to a high standard – where required, provide guidance and support on Group accounting policies; 
  • Responsible for preparing the monthly consolidated accounts (consolidating, reconciliations, journals etc);
  • Takes ownership and is responsible for preparing month end reporting as well as external reporting, ensuring that appropriate accounting treatment is applied (with support in place for treatment applied);
  • Responsible for maintaining Cognos controller (the consolidation system) and ensuring all segment teams have appropriate level of training and understanding;
  • Support the Group Head of Financial Reporting with external reporting requirements (IMSs, Interim Announcement, Annual Report);
  • Provide accounting support to the Head of Group Financial Reporting and key finance personnel within the business;

 

Skills, know-how and experience:

  • Qualified accountant with strong academic background
  • Experience in group multi-currency consolidations as well as external reporting under IFRS
  • Strong technical accounting background
  • Able to deliver confidently and quickly despite  changing priorities and an ability to prioritise and take ownership to achieve deadlines;
  • High level of drive, commitment and self-motivation;
  • High standards and attention to detail in all aspects of output;

 

Technical / professional qualifications:

  • ACA qualified accountant
  • Strong up-to-date financial reporting knowledge (IFRS)
