Job purpose:  Working within the RtR team the RtR team member shall perform the processing of information within the Record to Report area ensuring all operational and service objectives are met in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with defined Thomas Cook operating procedures.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:


  • Assist with the monthly and year end close process, including completion of journal entries, account reconciliation and variance analysis
  • Timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, GFSSC and Thomas Cook standards and SLAs
  • Provide solutions to any relevant client issues/problems as well as communicating and issues/risks to the wider team
  • Understanding of Accounting rules for Fixed assets
  • Understanding of Payroll



  • Achieve performance objectives agreed with assigned Team Leader
  • Perform other duties as required within RtR area as agreed with assigned Team Leader
  • Contribute to RtR process improvement initiatives as required

Key performance indicators:

  • Performs assigned RtR activities with a high degree of accuracy and in accordance with the business needs
  • Contributes to the overall RtR team to continually improve operations
  • Ability to give and receive feedback from key stakeholders

Skills, know-how and experience:

Must have:

  • Affinity for or interest in working in an accounting role
  • Comfortable dealing with numbers and the processing of financial information
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel) and SAP
  • Proficiency in English
  • Results-driven and logical
  • High degree of attention to detail and trustworthiness



  • Experience of working within RtR process, or other core financial process, within complex, large volume environments
  • Experience of working in a shared services environment
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Travellink
  • Experience of working within the travel industry
  • Strong English language skills are preferred for the role
  • Experience of Hyperion is preferred for managing Hyperion activities

Technical / professional qualifications:

  • BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or BA preferred
  • Working knowledge of most Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint)
  • Hyperion knowledge preference should be included for managing Hyperion activities
  • Good understanding of UK Tax and VAT requirements
