Job title: Security Architect

Location: Gent Belgium, Stockholm Sweden, London Peterborough Manchester UK


Job purpose: We are currently seeking a Security Architect to join our security team in Thomas Cook Group. In this role, you are responsible for assisting with the technical strategy and architecture including cloud and internal platforms, identity and access control, integration platform. To advise on global technical cloud security architecture and provide technical input across cloud portfolios in several markets, such as: Financial Services, Tour Operator Retail and Airline Operations.


Essential Knowledge, Criteria and Skills


  • Awareness of common architectural frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, SABSA).
  • Presents security architecture solutions as a view within broader IT architectures.
  • Maintains awareness of the security advantages and vulnerabilities of common products and technologies.
  • Designs robust and fault-tolerant security mechanisms and components appropriate to the perceived risks.
  • Develops and implements appropriate methodologies, templates, patterns and frameworks
  • Have delivered security architecture and designs in large and complex enterprises and will have held a number of complimentary security and IT roles.


Highly Desirable


  • Have a recognised industry security or architecture certificate e.g. CISSP, ISSAP, CCSP, CESG CCP. 
  • Membership of professional IT or Security association e.g. British Computer Society, ISC2, ISACA


Key accountabilities


  • Assist with cloud and internal security technical strategy and architecture.
  • Define security capabilities, integrations with cloud and internal platform across infrastructure services and platform services, for traditional and cloud native applications
  • Understand architecture workloads, provisioning, orchestration and provide security design across container deployments, virtualized environments, and bare metal deployments
  • Understand developer mindset as they build and deploy cloud native applications, and to secure those workloads
  • Detailed knowledge of industry security frameworks and compliance certifications
  • Work with customers and their architecture and operations teams to define repeatable reference architectures
  • Collaborate with other platform teams to develop roadmaps for the next generation Cloud security technology solutions for assigned portfolio’s and develops plans, methodologies and timelines to get there
  • Support the project security consulting team across Europe to determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates
  • Working with Enterprise Architects, takes customer security requirements and assists in the development of an Enterprise Information Security Architecture.
  • Interprets relevant security policies and threat/risk profiles into secure architectural solutions that mitigate the risks and conform to legislation and regulations and relate to business needs.
