Job purpose

As Licence Manager you will be responsible for the IT licence management process. To manage IT licencing and renewal, to provide seamless quality of IT service, clear policy and accountabilities ensuring value for money and compliance is obtained and maintained across the Group.


Key accountabilities and decision ownership

• Clear Policies and framework to oversee the License utilisation of the Group

• Managing IT licences, governing the processes that are fulfilling Thomas Cook’s needs and are meeting contractual licence obligations

• Supporting supplier audits ensuring all information is made available in a timely manner

• Governance and evaluation of new licences.  Developing good working relationships with key licence suppliers.

• Working closely with IT licence management company, ensuring Thomas Cook gets the best deals and is not over or under licenced.

• Ensure sourcing arrangement on projects are optimal value and commercially aligned.  Engaging with Procurement when required.

• Work closely with Internal stakeholders to identify and minimise risk of non-compliance. 

• Work with Finance to ensure budgetary alignment of licence spend

• Support company bid activity and ensure compliance with bid processes for new and existing licences


Skills, know-how and experience 

Must have:

• Good communication & stakeholder management skills

• Proven track record of demonstrating a service oriented attitude with the ability to balance competing priorities

• Strong leadership skills with ability to influence and inspire both technical and non-technical stakeholders including Third Party relationships.

• Appreciation of expectations and cost demands of business

• Knowledge of a broad range of IT and a good understanding of main licensing models adopted by key Product Suppliers in the market. 

• Experience in management of complex contracts

• Proven experience working with entitlements, utilisation and metering of licenses

• Experience in managing License audits, facing off to all parties involved


• Experience in working in and with international group/regional environment and multiple business disciplines


Technical / professional qualifications:

• Relevant industry experience - Licensing


Key performance indicators:

• Compliant position for key high risk Products meaning for audits – no surprizes!

• Measurable processes for licensing requests / fulfilment – end user and technical demand

• Visibility of Group position for key high risk Products


Direct reports: 

• 2 Direct


Budget owned:

• No direct budget ownership but financial responsibility for ensuring that contracts are delivering the agreed service and charges.

• Key License Analyst (p/t)

• Configuration Management Team
