It’s all about delivering an exceptional end-user experience.
Flights. Hotels. Package holidays. Go to our website, and you’ll see we offer thousands upon thousands of these products in countless number of configurations. While many of these products come from us, just as many come from third-party suppliers. The products themselves are not static either; prices continually shift over time, often in a split second.
This means that when a customer carries out a search, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. Displaying the most relevant results in the right order with the right information – instantly – is a complicated task; and one that relies on incredibly sophisticated technology. Yet for our customers, it needs to seem simple and seamless.
Our Product IT team are the people that make it all happen. They’re responsible for the back-end systems that govern all Thomas Cook products. The department is split into four areas: Traditional package holidays, City and Domestic Travel, Content and Data Management and Flights.
They’re an international team whose work goes beyond providing a mere service. We see them as integral to our business strategy. They’ll collaborate with our marketing teams to ensure we’re displaying more of the products our customers really want. Put simply, they’ll play a major role in our future growth.
Given the nature of this area, we’re looking for more than technical skills. You’ll need to have an excellent marketing mind too. You’ll need to understand the customer — their behaviour, their needs and their wants. A travel industry background would be helpful but is not essential. If you’ve worked for a high-tech firm or a high-volume online retailer, this would be a major advantage too.
Why join us?
“We’re running at a pace that I haven’t seen before. If you like working in a multicultural environment, if you love challenges, and if you want to be part of such a great transformation of a company…then you should join Thomas Cook.”
