Follow the coast to Vilamoura and explore the ancient ruins of Cerro da Vila. The ancient site has distinctive links to the rich history of the surrounding coastal towns. The Roman archaeological site first dates back to as early as the 1st century AD but later Visigoth and Moorish colonies also settled in the area, leaving behind traces of distinct civilizations from each period.
